Newsletter ~ December 2024

Hi Everyone!

Another year has passed and I realize some of you might have wondered where I disappeared to. It is not that I quit doing art - oh no! Due to an ankle replacement two years ago and a hip surgery this year, I was unable to do the shows I had done in the past. Thank goodness I was able to create art during my recovery - it saved my sanity and supported my recovery.

So now it feels like I am up and running again which is why you are receiving this newsletter.  There is more of a push to try to pull all the e-mails and addresses of those I know and have met in my years in the art community here in Traverse City and beyond.  I particularly wanted to let those who have bought my cards, prints, and paintings know that I have not gone away and to have the chance to again thank you for loving my work and buying it.

NEW ART…As I write this, my website is now being updated with new art. This includes crazy, fun, acrylic paintings called My Dottie Friends. They just make me smile. Most of the these canvas paintings are 8”x8” and all are ready to hang. The ones below have inspired a new set of 6”x6” note cards. You can see all My Dottie Friends in their glory on my website barbarahgreenwood.com.

Also just FYI, my paintings and note cards are now being sold at Twisted Fish Gallery in Elk Rapids, Michigan; Oliver Art Center in Frankfort, Michigan; and Crooked Tree Art Center in Traverse City, Michigan.  Each one of these venues has my note cards and My Dottie Friends art. Oliver Art Center also carries my original lino and aquatint prints.

ART SHOWS

  • Right now two of my pieces are hanging in the Members Show at the Oliver Art Center in Frankfort, Michigan. One is a Dottie Friend the other an acrylic monochromatic painting that came from a class I took during my down time.  This show will hang through the month of January 2025.

  • Also in January, my art work will be in shows at both locations of the Crooked Tree Art Centers. At the Traverse City, Michigan location, Three of My Dottie Friends will be in a juried show called Winter Wit: the Funnier Side of Art.

At the Petoskey, Michigan Crooked Tree Art Center, two lino prints and a two-panel painting called Winkin Blinkin and Nod will be in their Crooked Tree Art Center Members Show

My hope is to reconnect with people who are interested in staying in touch to let you know when I have new work, or when I am teaching any classes either in my Artzmaker Studio in Williamsburg, at the Twisted Fish Gallery in Elk Rapids. or at Crooked Tree Art Center in Traverse City.  Please let me know if you have no interest in being connected.

Let’s move into this new year with Great Blessings and Joy! Barbara H Greenwood
